Flying
After attaining my Commercial Pilot Licence in 2017, aged 20, I have been continually developing my skill set. Completing my CASA ATPL Subjects from 2016 - 2017, I then obtained my Flight Instructor Rating, progressing over 2 years to a Grade 2 Multi-IFR Instructor. I was given the opportunity to progress my career by joining Regional Express in December 2021.

Dec 2021 - Present
In December of 2021, I was offered the role of a First Officer with Rex on the SAAB 340. During my time with short Rex, I have completed and attained a SF340 Type Rating and successfully completed the MCC course. I have finished my line training and have in excess of 300 hours on type.

Jun 2018 - Dec 2021
After joining AAPA in the middle of 2018, I spent the past 3 years performing a variety of roles whilst living in Wagga Wagga, NSW.
Initially, I assisted heavily with the transition and implementation of their Part 141/142 Certificate after arriving at the company. This included the creation and editing of lesson records and plans, as well as being the instructor liaison during the development of the company's iPad application with the IT department.
After several months conducting ab-initio lessons I moved onto teaching VFR navigation lessons and completed my Grade 2 Instructor Endorsement.
After obtaining my Instrument Rating towards the end of 2019, I completed my Instrument Rating Training Approval in November 2019. I then proceeded to teach single engine IFR lessons in the simulator and aircraft, as well as supervising students undertaking IFR ICUS programs.
In February 2020, I undertook my Multi-Engine Training Approval at AAPA which allowed me to teach all lessons from Effects of Controls right through to MECIR and CPL Pre-Licences.
The Australian Airline Pilot Academy conducts flight training for both Regional Express and several Vietnamese airlines based out of Wagga Wagga CTAF. The training provided is driven by Policy & Procedure with the implementation of an FCOM. AAPA has a culture of strong adherence to safety.
The AAPA fleet consists of Piper Warriors & Seminoles, all fitted with Avidyne Glass Instruments.
Moorabbin Flying Services
Feb 2018 - Jun 2018
Once I had completed my Instructor Rating I was offered the opportunity to have a one month work experience at MFS. Following this, I continued in a casual position, primarily focusing on students I had initially flown with and training them in the stages prior to their first solo. In addition, I assisted with administrative tasks including updating company briefing slides and grouping of aircraft fees.
I moved to AAPA to progress my career with the offer of a full-time position.

2019 - 2020
After instructing at AAPA for roughly 8 months, I attained the required hours to conduct my Grade 2 instructor upgrade. This enabled me to begin conducting both First Solo and Navigation checks for students.
Following this, I completed my Multi-Engine Instrument Rating towards the end of 2019. The course allowed me to both expand and refine my current flying skills while supervising students conducting ICUS flights under the IFR.
In November 2019, I undertook my Instrument Rating Training Approval with Guy Pearson from Australian Flight Examiners. A few months later, in February 2020, I completed my Multi-Engine Training Approval with AAPA. Since early 2020, I have been able to teach all the lessons AAPA provides, from first solo through to MECIR & CPL pre-licences.
Moorabbin Flying Services
2015 - 2017
I enrolled in Moorabbin Flying Service's Cert IV in Aviation after leaving school in 2014, aged 18. The course was part-time and during my first year, I was able to complete all my CPL theory and the majority of flying required for my PPL. I attained my PPL at the beginning of 2016, I then chose to focus on further aviation studies for a few months.
In the latter stages of 2016, I gained my Multi-Engine Endorsement before completing my CPL & NVFR in early 2017.
In October 2017, I began my Instructor Rating Training at MFS and completed that in December of that year.
During my time at MFS, I was presented with the 'Award for Recognition of Overall Excellence' in 2017 and was 'Highly Commended in the Category of the Endeavor Award' in 2016.
MFS had a fleet of Piper Warriors, Archers and Seminoles, with all three models being fitted with analogue and glass instruments.
ATPL - Rob Avery
2016 - 2017
After being advised by many mentors, I concentrated on completing all my theory as soon as possible. While at the time, I thought the task of completing my ATPL's would be difficult, I underestimated just how large the leap is between CPL theory and that for the airlines. Nonetheless, I was able to complete all 7 subjects in just over year while completing my CPL flying at the same time. Looking back, I am grateful I took their advice and was able to complete the subjects with limited practical experience.
